If you do your pre-production properly, you can maximize the time you're spending in the studio. Please calculate and create a realistic
budget for yourself, by making clear pre-production decisions there will be no surprises about what you though the end result of your
album would have been.
Recording is an art, just as much as writing, singing and performing. You may be trying to create a sonic painting or just trying to
capture who you are on CD for your fans, but either way, the more prepared you are, the more your energy will be available for the
music and the more your budget will go further in the studio.
You will get out of it exactly what you put into it, as an unsigned band, your subjected to some limitations, the most relevant being
the consequent time limitations. To expect your record to sound like a major label without the resources to pull it off is not being in
tune to what your involved in.
Because professional records take months (or years) to properly produce and deliver to market, please be aware that when you
compare your finished product to a Major's that the main differences is the time allotted for the album.
Having a true idea of how the recording process works in the music business per the budget projection will get you closer
to what the end goal may be.
